Black and White Stripes

One of the most common patterns are stripes. They can easily be worn but aren't always flattering if not styled correctly. It's no secret that horizontal stripes can make you look wider. So pay attention to how thick the stripe pattern is, because smaller stripes are usually best. I am a huge fan of stripes so I am always looking for fun ways to wear them differently, while also making sure they compliment my figure.

For my look I wore a stripe dress by MINKPINK. I love that this dress shows a waist and also has some fun cut outs. I added a studded belt to give the dress a little more shape and to help accentuate the waist. My casual version of this look includes combat boots and a panama hat. Further into the post I show the dress with cap toe pumps, retro sunglasses, blazer, statement earrings, and a gold chain cuff. I also added a pop of color with hot pink (MAC Candy Yum Yum) lipstick.

One of my favorite things about a cute dress like this, is that it doesn't take much to change the look for different occasions. For example, adding a blazer to this look gives it a little more sophistication and easily transitions it to work wear. Wear a leather jacket and this is perfect for a night out. It is all in the shoe selection and outerwear piece that determines what the look is; nighttime, daytime, or wear to work. Try finding a dress from your own wardrobe that can transition easily for different occasions. Happy Styling!

Black & Blue Style

Some say you can't wear black and blue together. Well, I am saying it is a must for this season. I've recently noticed black and blue combos more and more, and I absolutely love it!

Some things to keep in mind when wearing black and blue together are:
1. these colors are best when color blocked
2. find the colors in different textures
3. cobalt blue is a nice hue of blue to pair back to black
4. Navy and black can be tricky so be sure that it looks flattering

For this post I kept the look fairly simple and showed how to wear the ASTR, lace inset romper from Nordstrom, casually and dressed up. The casual version of this look was styled with a peter pan collar necklace, and studded converse. As for the dressed up look I switched out the converse for a pair of silver 20's style heels. You can also wear this romper with tights, booties, and any statement jewelry(keep it to one statement piece though). How do you wear your black and blue together? Give it a try, Happy Styling!

Leather Trim and Metallic Brocade

I saw this dress at work the other day and just knew I had to have it. Of course, It didn't help that when I tried it on, it fit like a glove. Needless to say, I think it was money well spent! You can currently find it at Nordstrom in the Savvy department.

This dress in particular caught my attention because it looks like something by Alexander McQueen (one of my favorite designers). I absolutely love the leather trim and thought that the combination of the leather and brocade print was genius. The dress also has sheer panels in the front and back to keep the dress from looking too traditional and gives it an edge.

In the following look I paired the dress with strappy wedges, a gold statement ring,  a pair of gold/black earrings, and bold lip. You could also add a blazer, leather jacket, or wear a sheer collared shirt underneath the dress to complete the look. Keep the accessories simple, the dress speaks for itself and doesn't need much to look amazing. If you wanted to dress the look down even more wear the dress with a pair of boots or booties. I hope you like the look and HAPPY STYLING!

Fashion Friday

Today at work, I had a few people suggest that I put what I wore on my blog. I am very flattered and couldn't be more excited that people are enjoying what I am posting. So thank you followers!

As for the outfit I wore today, I decided to mix up the dress by putting a wrap shirt over it and really drawing attention to the fun neckline on the dress. I also tried to edge it up a bit with some studded booties from Target and a few vintage bracelet finds. The dress and wrap shirt are from Nordstrom's Savvy department.

Have a wonderful weekend! Happy Styling!

Jumpsuit Styled 3 Ways for 3 Seperate Occassions

Do you have a great statement piece in your wardrobe that you want to change up for all the different occasions in your life? I recently bought this jumpsuit from Nordstrom Savvy and decided to post how a piece like this can easily be worn for 3 different occasions: daytime, night out, and wear to work. All you need is a few shoe, accessory, and/or jacket changes and you have a completely new look. Check out how I wore this jumpsuit 3 different ways and try a few looks of your own. Happy Styling!

For the casual daytime look I wore a black cut off denim vest from Nordstrom Rack, mustard yellow cross body bag from Target, lace bandeau, and black sandals from Target.

For my night out look I kept it very simple and only added a vintage gold chain necklace, platform heels from Via Spiga, and a black clutch from Nordstrom. If you want to add an extra pop apply a bright lip like Candy Yum Yum from MAC.

Last but not least, your wear to work outfit for the third and final look. To give this look a sophistication, add a white blazer from Nordstrom, vintage gold chain necklace, gold statement ring, and cap toe pumps from Nordstrom.
