Craving Fall!

Fall is around the corner and I am Craving it! Even though I love the beautiful warm weather of California... I truly love the fall season.

As a stylist I love to layer and style the clothing that fall brings. I find myself always pushing into the next season sooner than most, because I am always surrounded by the clothes of the season to come. For example, I see sweaters, scarves, gloves, jackets and boots everywhere I turn (at work) and I want nothing more than to start wearing my fantastic fall layers but... the weather here thinks otherwise.

Fashion isn't all I love about fall... I absolutely love the fall holidays, Halloween and Thanksgiving. Halloween is the one time of year that I get to be anyone else that I want and eat lots of candy! Then Thanksgiving means time with family and eating! Lots of eating!

Another perk to Fall this year is my upcoming trip to Boston. I have been to Boston many times but never in the Fall and I am so excited. I get to experience Boston when the leaves are changing and see my family that lives there. There will probably be a post to follow with my pictures from my trip. I can't wait to share my adventure.

In the meantime... Here are some of my fall cravings. Enjoy!

Mad for Plaid!

Plaid comes and goes from season to season but there is something about a plaid shirt that I can't get enough of. I love that you can wear it casually and also dress it up just as easily. It looks great on men, women, boys, and girls and can be worn as a shirt, skirt, pants, you name it! However, there is always rules to wearing plaid right. There have been many plaid trends and some should be left in the decade they were worn. Here are a few ways to wear plaid the right way for today's style.

Channeling Chanel - TWEED!

If there is one designer who made a name for herself it is Coco Chanel. And today I am paying homage to Chanel by doing a blog post on tweed. Chanel made the tweed jacket an iconic look that can still be found today.

I am including a photo of Chanel herself wearing and styling one of her tweed designs on a Model. And a photo of Jackie Kennedy wearing a Chanel tweed suit. This way you can see the evolution of the tweed look, from then to now. Some say that the tweed look is too, "old fashioned" but I also included a few photos of the different ways that tweed has adapted to today's style. Enjoy!

To Embellish your Collar... or Not

Collars have been making a statement in a big way this year. People are dazzling up their collars with sequins, beads, pearls, studs, prints and more. The most popular collars are the classic pointed collar and the girly peter pan collar. Collars can also be a statement necklace, that you buy or make yourself, and wear over a t-shirt or sweater. Here are a few pictures that I found that I think are a perfect representation of an embellished collar.

This trend is also a great do it yourself (DIY) project. So pick your embellishment of choice, grab some fabric glue, and decorate that collar of yours!
