Wear to Work Day 3: Leather Panels & Bold Angles

Clothes for work don't have to be boring or drab. Try a bold dress with leather panels to give your professional look an elevated appeal. The leather panels alone give this dress (H&M) an edge that says, not only do you know how to dress, but that you also look sophisticated.
Like I mentioned before, check with your job to confirm what the dress code standards are. I wore a shirt under this dress, so that I 1. didn't have to cover it with a blazer  and 2. so that I stay work appropriate by covering my shoulders. You can also add hosiery to this look. Try a colored pair of tights or a angular print. Both will amplify the look and keep your outfit to work appropriate standards according to your job.
Leather trim and panels are trending quite a bit in the wear to work world. How are you going to wear a bold dress or leather career look? Make sure that you pay attention to fit and always confirm that the bold angles are flattering to your body.

Wear to Work: Day 2

A fun trend right now is wearing a shirt, especially collared shirt, underneath a dress. This trend creates so many different options for your wear to work wardrobe.
For example, I used my New Year's dress (Urban Outfitters) to create this professional look. What would normally be a party dress, transitions to work appropriate by adding the sheer back collared shirt (Nordstrom) and statement chain necklace (Forever 21).
Now depending on the dress code at your job, hosiery might be required. If you add a pair of sheer black tights you still have a sophisticated look. When it comes to length, keep dresses and skirts below your fingertips.
Try out your own collared shirt under a dress. You might be surprised at what you come up with.

Suit Up Ladies!

I have had a few requests for some wear to work posts, and decided this week I would do a wear to work series. For this first look of the series I decided to showcase non other than a pant suit. I am a big fan of women in suits and feel like, if done correctly, they are the perfect way to make a professional fashion statement. The key to finding the right suit is always the fit!
Make sure your suit choice is tailored to you and your style.

For my look I put together a classic black (Theory) pant suit. I prefer the skinny pant look and a well fitted jacket. I also paired a classic white button up shirt (GAP) with a black leather panel peplum top (Nordstrom) over it for a unexpected look. I also added a fun gold and black statement necklace, gold cuff, ring, polka dot ipad cover (Kate Spade), and metal toe pumps (Nordstrom) to complete the look. Don't make the look seem too put together, give the look some style by cuffing the sleeves and unbuttoning the collar. How are you going to wear your suit? And is it a skirt suit or pant suit? Whatever you do, make it represent you but in a professional fashion forward way.
