How to Pack for a Weekend Getaway

When you have a weekend getaway that includes the following: pool swimming, beach going, wine tasting, nights on the town, and some peaceful lounging, you need to have all the right pieces to create easy outfits that don't bulk up your travel bag. That is exactly what I will be doing for my trip to Santa Barbara with a few of my high school friends.

One of the easiest ways to help save space while traveling is to bring one jacket that can work with each outfit you pack. You should also keep the shoe choices down to 3 pairs: one for the beach, one for daytime, and one for nighttime. Here are a few photos of the outfits I will be taking with me. Notice that I have only one jacket throughout all the outfits and three pairs of shoes. What are you going to take with you on your summer getaway? Happy styling!

Weekend Getaway - Summer Essentials

This weekend my high school girlfriends and I are getting together for a getaway reunion in Santa Barbara. I can't even begin to express how excited I am for this trip because, 1. I haven't seen these girls, all together, in forever! and 2. it is the perfect opportunity to blog about what I will be bringing for my weekend away. Today it's all about what I will be packing for a day in the sun.

My day in the sun includes a fun pair of retro shades from Forever 21, sunscreen, sandals, and towel from Target, Hat from Nordstrom, and lastly the perfect swim suit from H&M.

I am a big fan of mix and match swimwear so I decided to show an easy way to accomplish this: pick one piece to be your print and use the other to break up the print by choosing a solid color. And... you can't forget your sun protection! Make sure to pack sunscreen, shades and a hat to keep your skin and hair safe from sun damage. The only thing left, is a cute cover-up and a bag to carry it all!

What would you bring for a day in the sun? Whatever you decide, make it bold and about you!

Dressing up Chambray for Day 6!

Met up with a friend for dinner and drinks and thought it might be fun to dress up my chambray for day 6.

I wore my darker chambray and paired it with a sheer olive green skirt. I added gold accessories, a studded belt, and strappy heels to complete the look.

During the day, I wore this same look with flats and less jewelry to make the look a little more casual and daytime friendly. This outfit is also perfect for work! All you need is a blazer, to give it work appropriate sophistication.

Overall, this is probably one of my favorite looks, due to its versatility. All you need is a few accessory switches and it can work for daytime, wear to work, and a night out. I challenge you to try and create a transitional outfit with your chambray. You might surprise yourself with how many looks you can come up with. Happy styling!

All Tied up in Chambray and Polka Dots for Day 5

For day 5, I decided to tie up my chambray shirt over a bralette and high waisted polka dot skirt. I also tied up the skirt to show off the ankle booties. Overall this look is fairly simple, but an outfit doesn't always have to be complicated to look great. For example, you can add a military style green jacket or even a pop of color cardigan for a third piece. Not sure where to wear this outfit? Well, it's perfect for a casual night out with girlfriends or add a pair of strappy heels and statement necklace for date night. Either way you look at it, this outfit is a fun way to show a little skin while still looking classy. Only 2 days left for 7 days of chambray/denim! Happy styling!

Keeping it Casual for Day 4!

It's chambray day 4 and I felt like wearing something that was comfortable but perfect for the summer heat. I paired the chambray shirt with coral shorts, black belt, leopard flats, and a Art Deco style necklace. The coral shorts give the look a pop of color and the black accessories tie everything all together. The leopard flats were my way of adding something unexpected. Hopefully this inspires you to try something new with your chambray and summer shorts. Happy styling!

Day 3 - Black, White, and Denim

For day 3 I decided to put together something that is relatively simple but fun for summer. With that being said, I paired my denim jacket with a bralette, high waisted circle skirt, and sandals.

This look is perfect for a vacation getaway, the fair, or even a walk on the beach. You must try out this bralette and denim trend for yourself! Happy styling!
