Styling out of someone else's closet: Feeling a little Bohemian Floral

Every so often my best friend, Lauren and I will randomly collaborate together on photo shoots, just for fun. A few months ago we did just that, and came up with this awesome bohemian floral lifestyle shoot. I styled the full look from her closet and she shot all the photos. If we weren't so busy, we would probably do this all the time. We are a pretty good team if you ask me!

It's always fun to peruse through other people's wardrobes. When I went through Lauren's closet I found the perfect pieces to create a whimsical bohemian look with a slight edge. I started with this soft blue lace dress from Urban Outfitters then added a cut off vest from Nordstrom, ankle booties by Dolce Vita, and complete the look with different Forever 21 accessories. I also decided to make a floral headpiece to give the look a little more color and add a whimsy feel to the shoot. Here are a few of my favorite shots from our little photo adventure.

Find the full shoot and all her other work on her website at http://laurenscotti.com. Try something similar with your own wardrobe. Or just make your own floral crown to add to your own looks. Happy styling!

Sometimes a Shirt is Better Worn Backwards!

A few weeks ago I went to LACMA to gather a little artistic inspiration and I also decided to wear my shirt backwards. Not only did I share my outfit but I also included some photos of the artwork that caught my attention and inspired some of my own work.

As for the look, I wore a LUSH art deco design tank backwards, with black cuffed shorts, a taupe structured jacket, and black sandals. I also included a few pictures of the shirt as it was designed to be worn, so you could decide which way you like to wear it. Or... you can find other shirts in your wardrobe that can be worn forward and/or backward; it's all up to you and whatever you like best! I hope my shirt switch up inspires you, just like the artwork at LACMA inspired me. Happy Styling!

Color to watch this season: Burgundy

There is always one color every fashion season that stands out to me, and this fall it's burgundy. I am seeing it more and more in stores and throughout my fashion research. It is such a rich color and makes a bold statement without being too overbearing. I personally feel that it is best paired with black, navy, brown, or charcoal grey. These colors help to enhance the color burgundy and are great fall neutrals.

For this look I decided to wear a burgundy lace top Tildon over a bralette Tildon, and high waisted skirt Leith. I paired some statement earrings (Forever 21), strappy wedges (Nordstrom), a cuff (Forever 21), and black clutch (Nordstrom BP) to complete the look. Another trend that I demonstrated here is the brallet and high waisted skirt combo. I don't personally like to be too exposed, so I chose to wear the see through lace top over the bralette to give the look a little more coverage. However, I still feel that this look is sexy without trying too hard. Pulling your hair up just like I did here will also give this look a complete silhouette and polished appeal.

How will you wear burgundy? I know that I will probably be posting more of this color in the future. Remember, fall is just around the corner! The easiest way to transition, is by adjusting the colors you wear in your wardrobe. Happy Styling!
